ESG

Responsible
development

Responsible development isn't an add-on, it's built into how we plan, design and deliver every scheme, from the moment we first speak to a landowner through to the day a care home opens its doors.

Our approach

Designed together.
delivered responsibly.

Our in-house land, planning, design technicians and construction teams believe that creating sustainable buildings and environments is paramount for the end users and the local environment. Having this close seamless operation between the disciplines ensures that our designs and construction methodologies work “hand-in-hand” to create energy-efficient buildings, thoughtful landscaping, and construction activities that minimise waste and environmental impacts on and around every site.

Our Commitments

Measuring our impact

As a standard on all our sites, we have introduced a series of environmental and social targets that we measure our development impact against on a scheme-by-scheme basis. This enables us to continually improve our consistency and responsibility when delivering the projects.

  • Environmental

Environmental target measures include reviewing the location of where and how our materials will be delivered, targeting the minimisation of emissions, both in production and transportation. Other measures include maximising solar panel integration on the site and using “green” energy providers to support the construction of the buildings. We review recycled and re-useable contents of all materials to ensure these are maximised as reasonably practicable.

  • Social value

Our Social value targets set out to have early and full engagement with the local community, from Planning through to Construction. These targets range from providing educational visits with local schools and colleges to ensuring that the local supply chain providers are given priority in the product and services we provide, retaining economic benefit within the community.

Responsible Construction

Minimising Our Impact on the Local Community

We understand that the construction process can be a disruption to the local surroundings. Again, we set high standards in ensuring this is kept to a minimum and a series of measures are implemented across all our schemes. These will include:

  • A site manager talking with neighbours over a garden wall beside a construction site

    Considerate Construction

Every site operates under a considerate constructor code, with clear points of contact for neighbours throughout the build.

  • Site hoarding with a community consideration plan and dust suppression in use

    Noise and Dust Control

Working hours, plant selection and site management are planned to keep disruption to nearby homes and businesses to a minimum.

  • A construction lorry following a signed construction traffic route on a residential street

    Traffic Measures and Management

Dedicated routing and scheduling for construction traffic, agreed with the local authority, to protect local roads and residents.

Our Commitment

Responsible From Land
to Completion

Our “lead by example” approach from initial land engagement to the construction of the care home, enables us to offer a responsible, transparent and accountable journey for our landowners.
